My Story
It Begins With YOU (Youth, Overcoming, and Uplifting) was created after experiencing and overcoming a personal battle with bullying. It is a way for me to share my story and provide a way for other kids and teens to find the resources they need to overcome their own battles. This is It Begins with Y.O.U.

It is a way for me to share my story and provide a way for other kids and teens to find the resources they need to overcome their own battles. This is It Begins with Y.O.U.
"You have skin cancer," those were the life-shattering words I heard at the age of 13. One would think
those words would be my greatest battle at a young age but, it has not; Overcoming bullying has been my
greatest battle! One out of every five students will experience bullying this school year alone. Students
who experience bullying are at increased risk for depression, anxiety, sleep difficulties, lower academic
achievement and dropping out of school. I experienced bullying from a different point of view, and this
opened my eyes to the lack of education and tools on bullying prevention throughout my school district, all school systems in North Carolina, and nation wide. The focus on “prevention” recognizes that change is ultimately
about shifting behavior and attitudes, which can happen through positive approach of education, awareness
and action. By instilling these morals early on, we can create a more empathetic society for our future
generations.
My Approach
Entering the classroom to offer resources and accessibility to students and teachers no matter the time or day was one of my biggest goals. I
created my website Itbeginswithyou.info for anyone to have a place to find resources and even a
listening ear if needed. My website is creating a broader reach and furthering my impact.
